"365 days to go until SAIL 2025: first ships announced!"
Sailing tickets are now available through the SAIL app, new partners are on board, and new program elements have been added.
Amsterdam, 20-08-2024 - On Tuesday, August 20th, exactly one year before the special anniversary edition of SAIL (August 20-24, 2025), preparations are in full swing. As part of the 750th anniversary of our capital, we will also celebrate 50 years and the 10th edition of SAIL. Since 1975, SAIL has grown into the largest freely accessible event in the Netherlands, attracting 2.3 million visitors in 2015. During the kick-off, Chairman Arie Jan de Waard, directors Mitra van Raalten and Robert Visser looked ahead, with the presence of involved Amsterdam aldermen, (new) partners, and the patron of the SAIL Amsterdam Foundation, Prince Maurits, the new plans were presented.
“It’s wonderful to ring the bell together: the official start of the SAIL 2025 year. I have full confidence in the team, the volunteers, and all the partners, it promises to be an amazing edition,” said Prince Maurits.
Ships from All Corners of the World Set Course for SAIL 2025
Visitors, ships, and crew members worldwide will come together to celebrate nautical history and various worldviews. The Peruvian B.A.P. Uniòn, the German Alexander Von Humboldt II, the French Belem, the Uruguayan Capitán Miranda, and the flagship, Clipper Stad Amsterdam, have officially announced their participation in SAIL 2025. "In exactly one year, all ships will be moored in the Oranjehaven (IJhaven), a landmark event in many calendars. We look forward to celebrating five days of unity on the water with all cultures: United by Waves!" said Chairman Arie Jan de Waard.

Starting now, individual visitors can book their tickets for a boat tour at SAIL 2025. This is a chance to experience this unique anniversary edition from the water together with friends, family, and loved ones. Tickets can be booked via sail.nl. Step on board & make a wave!
The SAIL Amsterdam App
For the first time, SAIL is launching an official event app, ‘Sail Amsterdam.’ Now available for download in all app stores. In the app, you can follow your favourite ships, view the event program, listen to the SAIL Playlist, and of course, purchase and store your sailing tickets in your wallet. Stay updated and sail always from the front row!
Together, We Make SAIL Possible
With one year to go until SAIL 2025, several new partners are coming on board. These "wavemakers" make the largest freely accessible event in the Netherlands possible: Heineken, Booking.com, KPN, Heren2, Tommy Hilfiger, and Sligro. Together, we celebrate 50 years of SAIL, the 10th edition, during the 750th anniversary of our capital!
