Wavemakers have 365 days a year to step onto the million-stage platform of SAIL! To raise awareness of themes such as sustainability, inclusion, and talent development as much as possible. With 5 unique projects, concrete impact is being made.

During SAIL, cultures from around the world come together. Five days of brotherhood on the water and the quay: what can we learn from this?
Talent development
Nothing more appealing than talent in action! Towards SAIL, as many talents as possible, young and old, get the opportunity to unfold their unique qualities.
Sustainability
The largest event in the Netherlands and the largest freely accessible event in Europe: SAIL sets an example! It also provides a platform to showcase and test various sustainable initiatives at a large event. The goal is to organize SAIL 2025 as sustainably as possible. Therefore, concrete goals are set on 6 topics: Waste, Water, Food, Mobility, Energy, Digital Security. Together with the municipality and our partners, we are looking for sustainable wave makers for this: do you have a concrete and feasible idea? Then get in touch!

SAIL Amsterdam werkt nauw samen met een breed scala aan partners, waaronder technologiebedrijven, duurzaamheidsorganisaties, stadsplanners, architecten en onderzoeksinstituten, om de grenzen van wat mogelijk is te verleggen en een duurzame toekomst te realiseren.
Inclusion
Ships, crew members, and visitors; for five days, the world converges on and around Amsterdam's IJ! And because SAIL is freely accessible, SAIL is for everyone! But is it really? Does everyone feel part of this fraternal water event? During SAIL, we embark with modern, innovative ships into the world of tomorrow. The historical ships captivate the imagination with stories of freedom, adventure, and prosperity. Yet, they also tell us stories of captivity and oppression. What lessons do we take for the future? #SAILHero has been developed to stimulate and facilitate the personal development of young people. Youth from diverse backgrounds and cultures are challenged to unfold themselves through a voyage at sea aboard one of the Dutch Tall Ships.
