Story

Eye of the Wind

The Eye of the Wind is a jewel of a sailing ship that has no equal anywhere in the world. She was launched in 1911 as a gaff schooner at Lühring shipyard on the Weser. Over the course of more than 100 years, she lived an adventurous life as a cargo ship, training ship, private yacht and collector's item. She was even used for a scientific expedition, ‘Operation Drake’, under the patronage of Prince Charles (now King Charles).

The ship's appearance and special atmosphere make her a real movie star. You may know her from big Hollywood films such as: ‘The Blue Lagoon’, “White Squall”, “Savage Islands” and “Tai-Pan”.

Since 2009, the ship has been used for sailing holidays with a high level of comfort and adventure. Travellers aboard the Eye of the Wind reach attractive destinations in the North Sea, Baltic Sea, Canary Islands and Caribbean. Companies also have the opportunity to organise management training and teambuilding in an unusual environment.
